“Health Disparities” in Uninsured Americans Essay

As per (Kilbourne, Switzer and Fine, (2006), Health variations are critical contrasts that are required and seen clinically and factually in medicinal services and wellbeing results. These contrasts between gatherings of individuals can influence how frequently an illness(disease) have bunch influences, the quantity of individuals who have become ill and how often do this specific infection or issue winds up with death happening. There are various populaces that can be influenced by wellbeing inconsistencies. ( Felton, (2013). A portion of these distinctions are: Ethnic and racial minorities Country zone inhabitants The older, youngsters and ladies Individuals with incapacities. (Medline Plus.com., (2013). Wellbeing divergence can likewise be characterized as contrasts of populaces in human services get to, natural exposures, wellbeing status, quality or use and results including your wellbeing. Wellbeing abberations are connected for the most part to social issues and human services frameworks. The overall web coming in presence in the mid †1990’s additionally can prompt wellbeing incongruities since some ethnic gatherings would not have the option to manage the cost of the web. One of the goals of Healthy People 2010 was to give more internet providers to the home. (Gibbons, (2005). Since this examination will be a quantitative report it will concentrate on the all out number of uninsured or underinsured Americans who didn’t have medical coverage before the finish of 2012. Another focal point of this investigation will be thinking of potential answers for this developing pattern in social insurance. So as to cover a wide assortment of individuals that are being affected by wellbeing incongruities in quantitative research for the most part will require an enormous example size so as to evaluate the exploration. (Felton, 2013). Foundation of the Study There are a few factors that consolidate populaces to impact someone’s wellbeing and wellbeing status which results into wellbeing divergence. As per the Healthcare Fairness Act of 2000 House Resolution #3250, populaces that have wellbeing abberations experience the ill effects of numbers that are huge as it identifies with the complete pace of rate of malady, mortality, endurance and dismalness when contrasted with the populace as a rule. The most contributing component to wellbeing differences frequently referenced when viewed in the United States populace is Socioeconomic status (SES). The nature of medicinal services experienced by our patients might be identified with issues of dissimilarity, socio-ecological determinants of wellbeing, practice variety, and unsatisfactory of care as logical proof appeared to appear by the late 1990’s. (Gibbons,(2005). Since Disparities in the United States can be brought about by rather a blend that is mind boggling, notable injury entwined with issues with access alongside orderly quality. Wellbeing variations have numerous sides which incorporate ethnicity, status, geology and race. For policymakers it is fundamentally imperative to offer importance to the issue in the right method to ensure any arrangements that are objective related will have the option to address the arrangements came to. The objective is to give wellbeing security to everybody regardless of what your financial characters are. Despite the fact that the United States objective is to totally get freed healthâ disparities there will be endeavors to turn into a piece of a more extensive exertion to change social insurance and thusly, there must be center around improving the nature of care conveyed to patients separately as a matter of first importance. (Frist, (2005). We would now be able to pose the inquiry, Why the investigation of wellbeing uniqueness ought to be sought after and for whom is the examination imperative to? The investigation of wellbeing uniqueness ought to be sought after supposing that nothing else except for to decide whether the examination into wellbeing dissimilarity will show any distinctions in hierarchical highlights that are explicit. Moreover the possibility that authoritative elements may assume a critical job in wellbeing divergence has achieved to a greater degree a profound research on the job of hierarchical procedures that are changeable when you look over the treatment setting. (Kilbourne, Switzer and Fine, (2006), Motivation behind the Statement The motivation behind this investigation will be to test the structure that is applied that will cover wellbeing abberations in 3 stages. Identification Diminishing as well as Eliminating Understanding The study will incorporate 200 male and female isolated similarly on uninsured Americans grown-ups 18 years and more seasoned to pick up input on why they don't have medical coverage. How would you figure your wellbeing status would change in the event that you could manage the cost of medical coverage? Do you think the new human services law will emphatically or adversely influence your capacity to buy medical coverage? What variables do you accept are straightforwardly connected with the uninsured status as it identifies with medical coverage get to? (Felton, (2013). Speculations Having no medical coverage is legitimately affecting my entrance to mind. Additionally the expense of care while having no medical coverage is legitimately influencing my general strength of me just as my family. With the Affordable Care Act of 2010 mostly authorized, how would you accept this law will be straightforwardly connected with your uninsured status with regards to access to medical coverage. (Felton, 2013). Nature of the Study Structure The qualities of Experimental Designs examine as per the course reading, (Frankfort-Nachmias, and Nachmias, (2008), plans starts with the comprehension of the 4 parts of research structure which are: _comparison(correlation of two factors), manipulation(control over), control, (expulsion of different components(, and generalization(different settings, bigger populaces can be use)._ (Frankfort-Nachmias, and Nachmias, (2008). The qualities of exploratory structures is it will enable a specialist to comprehend the rationale behind all other research structures, another quality is that an investigation allows the analyst to researcher and draw derivations that are easygoing with less trouble regardless of what kind of factor is utilized and it permits scientists to have the option to comprehend other plan impediments. (Felton, (2013). As per the creator,( Bhattacherjee, (2012). The confinements of Experimental Design research can be in the realm of experimentation, the circumstance in reality may not generally relate, in circumstances where you need to haphazardly appoint the people to bunches this might be unthinkable and deceptive and another constraint would dispose of factors that are unessential may not be conceivable. (Felton, 2013). As indicated by course book by, (Frankfort-Nachmias, and Nachmias, (2008). At the point when I consider the quantitative research plan I am creating and my exploration questions, speculations, and factors, I would suggest the exemplary test structure for inquire about. The explanation is my exploration plan includes, â€Å"Health Disparities,† which is a theme that can address a few explicit gatherings whether it be founded on race, sexual orientation, protected, uninsured. In the great trial look into structure as the analyst you do have more authority over the natural and extraneous factors for your examination which is a bit of leeway for me. Likewise in test structure it permits the scientist to have control to acquaint the variable that free with assistance figure out which course the causation is being directed to. Since Health Disparities should cover a few territories so as to be compelling I feel that trial inquire about plan offers me the most obvious opportunity with regards to arriving at the objective of my exploration which are three stages: 1. Location, 2. Comprehension of the issue and 3. disposing of or taking out wellbeing differences all together. ( Felton, 2013). Since there are such huge numbers of issues that are influencing â€Å"Health Disparities in our present reality, I believe I have to pick an exploration configuration plan that offers adaptability to the analysts which permits them to appropriately investigate theâ issue, see all sides to the issues to help concoct legitimate and moral ends. Managing Workplace Safety and Health Free Essays

Nowadays, there are so many countries that have a problem with the employment of their citizens. The government of some countries can not manage to provide them with the jobs that would help them finance their living and their needs. The lack of job opportunities enables stagnation of the potential of the people thus disables the manpower of a certain country to grow and develop. We will write a custom essay sample on Managing Workplace Safety and Health or any similar topic only for you Order Now Clearly, there are also so many problems that arise with this very serious unemployment. First, the resources of the country might not be used into its fullest since there are no funds for the farming or whatever job that do not require much machines or infrastructures, like with the farms and forests. Secondly, the population can increase unreasonably since people who might be just spending their time enjoying the dominion that God has permitted us with, to spread the good news and to multiply and recreate. Third, the people in a certain country might want to have a strike for their officials who do not have that potential to provide them what they need in their lives and that is to suffice the need to eat, by which I can recall as one of the primary needs of a person. Thus, this situation may lead to war making the country unfit for peaceful living. Speaking of War, we all know that Iraq is a place where some atrocities and turmoil is present because of the terrorism issue that other countries accuse them. The war has already damaged a lot of natural resources and even killed a thousand lives, whether Iraqi or other people with different nationalities that worked in Iraq. Those people who just wanted to earn something to provide their family financial support, those who already have the potentials and risked their fate by trusting that they will be safe in Iraq, were unlucky to have killed brutally by the guns and bombs that the war have given. The unemployment that is mentioned above is also a way why such people were killed in this country. Those countries that do not have enough slots for their people tend to send those unemployed to Iraq to find money; hence what they can find is death. Their willingness to sacrifice for their families is equaled by the threats that they might encounter upon arriving at the country that could make them be drained, drained emotionally and even physically. Part of this paper is to analyze how the HR Managers treat this kind of situation aside from the fact that there are hundreds and thousands of unemployed citizens. Do they really intend to help these persons and their families or they are just for the benefit of their commissions given that those companies in Iraq, or their companies that have other bases or branch in Iraq pay double or triple times the price of a normal salary in a peaceful country? There were analyses on how these people deal with the situation given that there are really many things that are being risked in this country, Iraq. The first question goes on how the HR’s are being influenced for this kind of risking. I think, aside from the fact that working abroad is something really adventurous to most people in the world, it is the deal that goes with the case, that is someone will have to work in Iraq and he/she will be provided of certain benefits that will encourage even his/her family to support that endeavor. There could be lots of offers that they may put into their contracts upon the acceptance of the application of those apprentices. Having so many bombings, it is not a joke to really invest one of your feet just for the sake of money, which is also one of the motivations of the HR managers that they too are risking their credibility to people who might want to work for their company. From the article of Susman saying that there really are bombings in Iraq, there are already so many warnings for the people who would want to give their best shots in Iraq. They will be heroes if they will be killed because of their loving hearts for their families. Giving the unemployed jobs in Iraq might also be a way to decrease the number of populations residing on an overpopulated country, with that intention of course that is hidden by the administration. If this is to be transferred, I think, some Hr managers can just gather these people who want to work in Iraq for big money and just give them something more difficult than letting them face the mask of death and even the haunting black man carrying a knife or a sword. Here, we can say that there are still ways to make them safe of the trouble of the war, that is to wait until the issue between Iraq and the other countries fade. As with the article of Whitaker, there was a military man who will have punishments for being the cause of fatalities with some women and children in Iraq. In my point of view, the danger of risking someone else’s life with the kind of wage the HR Managers are promising their employees is not worth the existence of those beings. It is very difficult to raise a child and give him/her the education that he/she opt to have at their young age. Those people would always want to have something to apply their education and for the unfortunate who resides on countries with scarcity of jobs in turn be working on a country that promises only threats to their emotional and physical beings. Perhaps it can strengthen the spiritual aspects of that person that they will be able to call the Father Almighty every now and then to protect them with the harms not only the war can give them but by their bosses who might be influenced by the present turmoil in Iraq. I think, the benefits they will be getting in working in Iraq shall just be placed in funds that will enable that state or country make or build establishments that will provide them the money they need. Sometimes, courage is not measured by facing the most scary things in life but by looking for ways to solve the different struggles we encounter every day no matter how easy or complicated they are. Waterford Crystal A Case Analysis Essays (3152 words) -

Waterford Crystal a case analysis HISTORY OF WATERFORD CRYSTAL Waterford Glass was started by two brothers, George and William Penrose, in 1783. It was the most notable of all Irish crystal companies. In 1799, the Penrose brothers sold Waterford Glass to the Gatchell family. The crystal industry was prosperous until 1825. Irish glass manufacturers began to slowly close due to high export duties, the economic depression, and a lack of capital. Waterford Glass was the last to close in 1851. It was reestablished nearly a century later by Charles Bacik and Bernard Fitzpatrick. In 1947, they set up a factory in Waterford, Ireland. A turning point in the company's history came in 1950 when Joe McGrath made a sizable investment in Waterford Glass. He invested the capital needed to convert the small crystal manufacturing company into one with the potential to become a major player in the crystal industry. This investment gave his family control for the next thirty-five years. Joe McGrath was committed to Ireland and providing jobs for his country. He wanted to reduce the country's high unemployment level. His focus for Waterford Glass was on growing the company through exports to the United States. In 1966, Joe McGrath's son, Paddy McGrath, took over management of Waterford Glass. Like his father, he was dedicated to Ireland and to providing employment opportunities for the Irish. McGrath's quest to provide more jobs for the Irish led him to diversify the company. By 1983, the company had acquired more than thirty non-core businesses. To reflect the expansion, management changed the company's name to Waterford Gl ass Group. In 1985, Paddy McGrath resigned as chairman of Waterford Glass. Concurrent with Paddy McGrath's resignation, Paddy Hayes was appointed chairman and CEO of Waterford Glass Group. He immediately began to sell off the non-core businesses in an effort to reduce the company's high debt level. Waterford Glass's debt was virtually eliminated with the issue of American Depository Shares (ADS) on the United States NASDAQ market. On November 28, 1986, Waterford Glass acquired Wedgwood, a two hundred year old manufacturer and marketer of fine bone china. Paddy Hayes was named the chairman and CEO of both companies and Paddy Byrne was appointed CEO of Wedgwood. In 1989, the company's name was changed to Waterford Wedgwood. Three divisions were created as a result of this acquisition: the Waterford Crystal division, the Wedgwood division, and the Creative Tableware division. In 1989, Paddy Hayes resigned from his position as chairman and CEO of Waterford Wedgwood. Paddy Hayes was succeeded by Paddy Byrne as CEO of Waterford Wedgwood. Paddy Galvin was appointed as CEO of Waterford and Paddy Byrne continued as the CEO of Wedgwood. In 1990, the ownership of the company began to shift from Ireland. This was the result of an equity investment made by the Morgan Stanley/Fitzwilton consortium. On April 5, 1990, the workers at Waterford Wedgwood went on strike. The strike occurred when management took steps to reduce high labor costs. The strike lasted fourteen weeks causing significant problems for the local community. In December 1990, Waterford Wedgwood became two independent entities. Concurrent with the restructuring of the company, Paddy Byrne resigned. In September 1991, Waterford introduced a new brand of crystal called "Marquis by Waterford Crystal." THE CRYSTAL BUSINESS Today, the craftsmen of Waterford are supreme artists as they were in the 18th century. Having craft and design skills is the critical element in establishing and maintaining a competitive advantage. The combined skills of the craftsmen create the distinctive patterns known all over the world. The exceptional clarity of Waterford Crystal is achieved through several steps that have remained almost unchanged for over two centuries. Waterford products are manufactured by a strict process of mixing, blowing, cutting and polishing. Manufacturing crystal is very labor intensive. Labor costs are generally 50 to 55 percent of the manufacturing costs. Chemicals are mixed to create a unique formula that gives Waterford crystal its special sparkle and light refractive qualities. It is then heated to 1400 degrees centigrade in a natural gas fired furnace for at least 36 hours to produce molten crystal. A blower, using the traditional tools and techniques as in the 18th century, gathers a quantity of crystal from the furnace on the

History of Ice Cream

History of Ice Cream The origins of ice cream can be traced back to at least the 4th century BCE. Early references include the Roman emperor Nero (37-68 CE) who ordered ice to be brought from the mountains and combined with fruit toppings, and King Tang (618-97 CE) of Shang, China who had a method of creating ice and milk concoctions. Ice cream was likely brought from China back to Europe. Over time, recipes for ices, sherbets, and milk ices evolved and served in the fashionable Italian and French royal courts. After the dessert was imported to the United States, it was served by several famous Americans. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson served it to their guests. In 1700, Governor Bladen of Maryland was recorded as having served it to his guests. In 1774, a London caterer named Philip Lenzi announced in a New York newspaper that he would be offering for sale various confections, including ice cream. Dolly Madison served it in 1812. First Ice Cream Parlor in America - Origins of Name The first ice cream parlor in America opened in New York City in 1776. American colonists were the first to use the term ice cream. The name came from the phrase iced cream that was similar to iced tea. The name was later abbreviated to ice cream the name we know today. Methods and Technology Whoever invented the method of using ice mixed with salt to lower and control the temperature of ice cream ingredients during its making provided a major breakthrough in ice cream technology. Also important was the invention of the wooden bucket freezer with rotary paddles, which improved the manufacture of ice cream. Augustus Jackson, a confectioner from Philadelphia, created new recipes for making ice cream in 1832. Nancy Johnson and William Young - Hand-Cranked Freezers In 1846, Nancy Johnson patented a hand-cranked freezer that established the basic method of making ice cream still used today. William Young patented the similar Johnson Patent Ice-Cream Freezer in 1848. Jacob Fussell - Commercial Production In 1851, Jacob Fussell in Baltimore established the first large-scale commercial ice cream plant. Alfred Cralle patented an ice cream mold and scooper used to serve on February 2 1897. Mechanical Refrigeration The treat became both distributable and profitable with the introduction of mechanical refrigeration. The ice cream shop or soda fountain has since become an icon of American culture. Continuous Process Freezer Around 1926, the first commercially successful continuous process freezer for ice cream was invented by Clarence Vogt. The Ice Cream Sundae Historians argue over the originator of the ice cream sundae but three historical probabilities are the most popular Ice Cream Cones The walk-away edible cone made its American debut at the 1904 St. Louis Worlds Fair. Soft Ice Cream British chemists discovered a method of doubling the amount of air in ice cream creating soft ice cream. Eskimo Pie The idea for the Eskimo Pie bar was created by Chris Nelson, an ice cream shop owner from Onawa, Iowa. He thought up the idea in the spring of 1920 after he saw a young customer called Douglas Ressenden having difficulty choosing between ordering an ice cream sandwich and a chocolate bar. Nelson created the solution, a chocolate covered ice cream bar. The first Eskimo Pie chocolate covered ice cream bar on a stick was created in 1934. Originally Eskimo Pie was called the I-Scream-Bar. Between 1988 and 1991, Eskimo Pie introduced an aspartame-sweetened, chocolate-covered, frozen dairy dessert bar called the Eskimo Pie No Sugar Added Reduced Fat Ice Cream Bar. Haagen-Dazs Reuben Mattus invented Haagen-Dazs in 1960, He chose the name because it sounded Danish. DoveBar The DoveBar was invented by Leo Stefanos. Good Humor Ice Cream Bar In 1920, Harry Burt invented the Good Humor Ice Cream Bar and patented it in 1923. Employee Engagement - Coursework Example 6). It refers to the amount of â€Å"discretionary effort† exhibited by the employees at work, in the form of extra time, brainpower or energy (Towers-Perrin, 2003 as cited in Carter, 2010). What it is not employee engagement is â€Å"staff satisfaction surveys† published by staff survey companies, because employees can give a high rating to surveys but do no meaningful work at al (Gable, et al., 2010). It is more about productivity and performance by a staff inspired to go the extra mile, willingly (Elsworth, 2011, p. 6). The T&D editorial staff concurs in their article â€Å"Employee Engagement Correlates to Career Advancement and Training† (T&D, 2011), where it affirms that â€Å"employee engagement needs to be part of the everyday culture of an organization, not addressed only through annual surveys† (p. 21). ... On the other hand, the Partnership for Workplace Mental Health, a project of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), reported in 2009 that only one in every five workers is engaged in their work. Viewed in tandem with the T&D article, then, it appears there has been an improvement in the number of engaged workers, from 20 per cent to 30 per cent of the work force, indicating the effectiveness of government and private sector efforts to encourage employee engagement. On the other hand, the Partnership for Workplace Mental Health, a project of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), reported in 2009 that only one in every five workers is engaged in their work. How the Rising Cost of Fuel Has Affected Air Travel Research Paper

How the Rising Cost of Fuel Has Affected Air Travel - Research Paper Example This is in the form of efficiency, cutting costs and passing on the costs to travellers. Introduction The rising cost of fuel prices has significant effects on the air travel industry in multiple ways affecting airlines, travellers and other allied sectors. In most ways, the industry has experienced numerous negative impacts as compared to positive impacts. This is to the extent of having some airlines pulling out of certain markets altogether or even quitting the industry altogether. This paper seeks to discuss the impacts of high fuel costs on air travel and its effects to the industry. Recent studies in the airline industry have seen the cost of fuel rise as a result of trends in the world oil prices. As a result, airlines have experienced increased operating costs due to issues of efficiency in fuel consumption and environmental taxes, as well as caps. This way, airlines have sustained increased costs of operation that have affected air travel significantly in regard to the aircr aft acquired and expansion programmes (Cranfield University, n.d). In regard to the acquisition of new aircraft to be used in air travel, the high fuel costs have resulted in improved fuel efficiency. This is in the form of having airplanes with fuel-efficient engines that bring down the amount consumed over a given distance (Cranfield University, n.d). ... Moreover, another field affected in air travel, in reference to the increase in fuel prices, is the expansion of long haul and decline of short haul services (Cranfield University, n.d.). This is following frequent upgrade to aircrafts that have better fuel efficiency as compared to older fleets. Due to the high costs of fuel, the industry is able to adapt accordingly to bring down the costs of operation; and keep up with the ever-rising fuel prices and allowing air travel to cover greater distances with more capacity, and with lesser fuel consumption. Thus, due to high fuel prices, airlines have opted to focus on revenue management strategies to cut all costs of operation. In this case, the high fuel costs have been placed on the traveller to shoulder the burden, in the fare; they pay for the usage of air transport. However, some, instead of passing the cost of fuel directly on to the passengers, they have chosen to have value added services that are optional for the traveller (US B ureau of Labour Statistics, 2012). The services could be in the form of meals offered on board and are gladly accepted and paid for accordingly. In addition, services and costs that cater for fuel are in the form of the service that the passenger would like, such as flying business or economy class and all fees charged for reservation and cancellation of tickets (US Bureau of Labour Statistics, 2012). Thus, the cost of travel has gone high as a result of the levies that are passed on to the traveller. Still on high fares, travellers have, in recent times following high fuel prices, had to pay more for the cost of their luggage. This contributes to the overall cost of travelling by air through charges for hand luggage, overweight luggage and oversize baggage. In

CASUAL DRESS DAYS :: Essays Papers

CASUAL DRESS DAYS INTRODUCTION Many businesses have begun using a casual dress policy on certain days. Implementing dress-down days may be an effective way to boost employee morale. The question that seems to pop up too often is whether dress-down days are a benefit or burden to the company. Many companies have adopted Friday as a casual or dress-down day, while others have made casual business attire a full-time policy. Some employees view wearing casual business clothing as an employee benefit. To others, it is a disaster. Both men and women are often confused about what "casual" means and about how to dress casually and still look professional. Some people in management positions feel employees goof off on casual dress day. This report will look at all these issues as well as a conclusion about the effectiveness of casual dress days. CASUAL DRESS DAY DEFINITION Definition and Description The definition of casual-dress days is dependent upon such variables as gender, geographic location, type of firm, and the day's activities. For instance, dressing casually for an accountant means khakis with a nice shirt. Someone who works as a high school teacher may be able to wear jeans and a nice shirt. Most businesses do not see T-shirts as an acceptable form of attire. Although it may be a casual dress day, clothing should still be neat, clean, and pressed. Clothing should not be offensive, tasteless, revealing, or sloppy. If an employee feels he or she might be underdressed, he or she probably is. Businesses That Have Casual-Dress Days Many businesses have adopted casual-dress days as a tool to boost employee morale. Management likes to use this as a benefit because it is free. Types of businesses that have casual-dress days are businesses in which employees do not have many interactions with clients. Accounting firms, insurance companies, and many corporate offices use the casual-dress policy. These businesses have casual-dress days to increase worker productivity, to have more open communication between staff and managers, cost savings to employees because casual business wear is less expensive, and improved work quality. Many companies do not have casual-dress days because there are many ways wearing casual clothing can hurt business. Employees may interpret the word casual too liberally and wear inappropriate clothing. The professional image may also be weakened if clients feel employees are too casual to be entrusted with their business.

The Messenger – the Joker

JASON S. It's almost like an essay. I swear this was not intentional (might have been out of habit). On a side note I learned everything I know about the Major Arcana from a game I played two years ago. This is addressing both the actual ‘Joker' and the events of the book. JOKER & THE FOOL ‘What’s in it for Ed Kennedy? ’(p 222) It's not hard to see that the Joker is the most unique of a full set of playing cards. The Aces all had their own meanings but the Joker is much more symbolic and ambiguous in meaning.Born from the concept of a ‘wild card' that could beat even the highest values of deck, the Joker originated from a tarot card of the Major Arcana. This card is known as the Fool (or the Jester). The Major Arcana consists of 22 trump cards used by fortune tellers to tell your fortune. Though all other cards in the Arcana are numbered from 1-21, the Fool never took on its own number. This is similar to how the Joker is not shown to belong to any sui t.Later editions of the Fool shows it with the number 0 or 22; the beginning and the end, the first and the last. This may be representative of Ed's initial incompetence, and his self-improvement as the story went on and his messages were delivered. The true worth of the Joker only arises in the event of challenge. Ed's journey only consists of challenge after challenge. The true meaning of the Joker is summed up in a single quote near the end of the book. If a guy like you can stand up and do what you did, then maybe everyone can. Maybe everyone can live beyond what they're capable of. † (p 382) The Joker and the Fool are symbolic of having infinite possibilities. Throughout the text this is in the form of Ed's personal growth. Ultimately, Ed realizes that this entire time he wasn't just fixing other people's lives and helping them. The only person who needed help was him. â€Å"I'm not the messenger at all. I'm the message. † (p 386)

The Realist and Liberalist Perspectives on International...

The Realist and Liberalist Perspectives on International Relations and US Policy Stance Toward Iraq There are two prominent stances in International Relations. The schools of thought are commonly referred to as realist and liberalist. There are various names that they are called, and they can also be split further into subdivisions. However, for the purposes of this question I will just refer to the main schools of thought, and the main aims of both the paradigms. At a first glance at this question, my gut feeling is that the United States aims to achieve the same as the liberalists, that of world peace. But the current stance of the US policy is to achieve this utopia by realist methods, pre-emptive†¦show more content†¦The Iraq question has proven that with the emphasis on security, living in fear of attack, the realist stance brings us closer to war. States wishing to arm themselves against attack may be seen as mobilising for war. This happens because there is no distinction between offensive and defensive weapons. In such a case a security dilemma is raised.[2] Such a question has been raised over Iraq; is Saddam Hussein arming for war against the West or for defence against the West? This is difficult to show because of the lack of distinction between offensive and defensive weapons. The mutual distrust of Iraq and the United States of America can be explained by the fact that under the realist paradigm power is a chief aim. This power is achieved by defending themselves against possible aggressors and also at the expense of their rivals. In the current climate, the United States is defensive and aggressive towards Iraq and vice versa. With the struggle for power, or at least a balance of power, it is inevitable that there will be a number of small wars that ensue. The realist viewpoint proved this pre-1914 when the intricate alliance systems of the Ententes of France and Britain, the Dreikaiserbund of Germany, Russia and Austria-Hungry. These two alliances produced several minor wars that helped maintainShow MoreRelatedPeace Negotiations in International Security1477 Words   |  6 PagesPost-Cold War era is marked by the dominance of peace negotiations in international security, and Middle-east (ME) being a conflict area for a long time, got adequate focus. Apple Ipod Advertisement Evaluation Free Essays

How many people worldwide love to listen to their own elegant style of music? Well with the new Apple Ipod you have the power to listen to your flavour of tunes that gets your blood flowing or just brings back your fondest memories. Absolutely no one could turn down an opportunity to liven up a bad day with a fantastic song. The Apple Ipod is â€Å"probably the best† technology the music industry could grant you. We will write a custom essay sample on Apple Ipod Advertisement Evaluation or any similar topic only for you Order Now One of the best ways to show people how the product will help you is by advertising on the television because it shows people exactly what the product will do for you and how it will make you a better person. As I found the commercial on the Internet I do not know when the commercial was first aired. But as the target audiences is mainly twelve year olds and all those above (12+) this keeps is short, the duration of the advert is thirty seconds with twenty clips. With a slide only being a couple of seconds long there is a large quantity to take in on the visual imagery of this advertisement. Basically the main sequences are Silhouettes dancing along to the song Flathead by Fratellis. Apple has picked the song Flathead because it makes you click your fingers, so it is powerful and makes you attracted to the screen because of the catchy song. The Song plays throughout the whole commercial without any voice-overs. The song produces energy a qualities important to the sequence through their teenaged years. When the commercial starts the image is a pink male Silhouetted body holding an Ipod stood in the centre of the screen; behind him is a blue background with thin pink and green lines passing behind his body, he is shaking his body to the beat of the music and clapping, his Ipod against his waist. You can distinguish the Ipod because it is the only white object on the screen; the bright colours make the audiences automatically drawn to the television screen. It would appeal to both genders because it shows the male is not troubled of any feminine signals he may be receiving by the audience due to the colours; he is obviously comfortable to express his sexuality with the way the colours are expressed. Then for a split second the screen changes to pink and purple with a full body shot of a silhouetted man waving his left arm in the air; again to the beat at the end of the clip a creamer pink lightning bolt strikes across the man’s body, This is powerful because the jolt of lightning gives the viewers a slight flinch, and keeps the attention fixed to the screen. Even though you don’t know what the people look like you would still communicate with people in the advert because the viewer is made to feel like they should the like the silhouette. The fact you don’t know exactly what they look like is powerful because it could indicate that it could be any one, even the customers; the outline of the character is also powerful because it is surreal and not fixed to one human image. The next clip is of a man wearing a trilby style of hat he is a blue and pink background colour, again the Ipod is in his hand whilst he dances. He shows you the Ipod on this angle because he is showing you how thin it is, he is showing the audience this because this will make the product more appealing because the customers do not want to carry a â€Å"brick† in their pocket all the time and makes the other music player products unpopular. The contrast in colours between the background and the silhouette is also very important because then the audience can easily distinguish between the foreground activity and contrasting background. This is can influential towards the viewers because it makes them what to buy the product due to the fashion that the viewer has seen on the silhouette on the commercial. Another pink silhouette of a man, but the background is blue it still shows the contrast of colour and also shows a mixed personality at the same time. He is kicking his smart and snazzy shoes towards the camera; it makes male viewers feel like they need shoes like the silhouette so the has to go out and get some like the silhouette for the reason that it looks fashionable but at the same time also influences male to also get an Ipod. The next clip is of the first person in the commercial, you can tell since the Silhouette shape and background go back to the same colours as the first clip; so the some of the silhouettes have a individual colour. The way he is jumping in the air waving his arms round like a lunatic suggests that he is have a really good time and he is basically â€Å"freaking out†, another reason that the viewer should buy it because commercial is sending the message the viewer that the silhouettes are having a good time so why shouldn’t the customers. An orange silhouette woman is in the next set of slides; it is a headshot specifically so that you can only see her earphones; they stand out specifically because it shows how perfectly slot in the silhouette’s ears even when she is dancing. She has long hair and it waves when she jumps and moves to the sound of the music. The silhouette Dances is like so is non-conformity; so the message is sent to the viewers is that Ipods will set you free from all rules. In the next clip their stands a turquoise woman that shows the Ipod in the front of the shot; it is the main focus on the screen so that the viewers eyes cannot be averted from it, it also shows you the Ipod like this because it shows exactly what the Ipod looks like. Going from person to person suggesting that a lot of people like dancing to this song because it is popular or even any song on an Ipod because it is also easily carried and has a large memory so you can listen to a wide variety of the viewers idolised songs. A few clips ahead there is a clip of a man’s feet that is one of the first of the clips where you don’t see the Ipod at all. It shows how feet are moving to the rhythm of the music. The next clip the are two pink figures on a aqua back ground standing one on the left the other on the right; they jump in the air and a purple figure drops down from the top right to the centre of the screen. They all land at the same time and dance individually, this is a moment of intense movement as the viewer looks at the screen and it fills their body with energy; some of the cloths that they wear are quite smart so it makes you want to associate more with them. Following six more clips there are two pink Silhouettes of a man and a woman; they both dance together so it suggesting that buying an Ipod makes couples might want to dance together; it makes the audience feel as if they could get closer to their partners by buying two Ipods and suggests relationships will be better. When the text says â€Å"iPod + Itunes† it is basically saying if a person gets this Apple Ipod and any of the Itunes available you could possibly be like any the people you have seen in the advertisement. The penultimate clip is again of the couple that where dancing together; you can tell because they are the same shape, the woman walks pushing her male partner off the set so you know the advertisement is going to be over, it suggests who wears the trousers of the relationship which appears to be most female viewers around the world. Conclusively finished with a picture of the Apple logo then it no longer needs any text because it is then obvious to the viewers that this is an Apple product. The analysis of the commercial should have been undertaken to make shore that the colourful stroking images would not be dangerous towards to anybody suffering from epilepsy. A mistake that was also recently make by the advertising agency promoting the soon coming 2012Olympics. Music devices are very common, but what makes this Ipod special is they look good and they are fashionable. I would rate the advertisements effectiveness 8/10 because you could make all the clips more memorable rather than short ones, but it has a very catchy song. So it will stick in your mind along with the Apple brands, mainly the Ipod. How to cite Apple Ipod Advertisement Evaluation, Papers

Tourism Planning Environment and Issue †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Tourism Planning Environment and Issue. Answer: Critically evaluating the tourism related issue Around 5% of the global economy is contributed by the tourism industry with an estimated annual growth of 6.2%. As mentioned by Gladstone, Curley and Shokri (2012), analyzing the impact of tourism on the environment is hardly studied despite the adverse consequences. According to this journal, it can be seen that the coastal regions attract the high number of tourists, as this allows the tourists to enjoy both the scenic beauty of sea and land. The tourism related issue discussed in this journal is to evaluate the impact of tourism on the environment. According to the journals, it can be said that tourism imposes a severe threat to the environment. Moreover, this journal specifically highlights the environmental impacts on the gulf coastal region. Increase in the number of tourists in the gulf coastal area has increased to 22.9 million. Due to the increase in the number of tourists, gulf countries had build suitable, comfortable and adequate number of infrastructures. An excessive nu mber of infrastructure within a limited time in the gulf region has resulted in the loss of coral reefs, wetlands, sandy embayment and mangrove forests. As a result, the loss of habitat in the coastal region is prevalent. The activity undertaken and performed by the tourists such as SCUBA diving poses potential threats to the marine species due to the boats. Environmental damage also includes coral breakage and damage along with littering the marine and the coastal environment. However, as argued by Lee and Brahmasrene (2013), tourism poses an adverse environmental hazard by facilitating a higher rate of carbon dioxide emission. The journal demonstrates a close relationship between economic growth and emission of carbon dioxide. As tourism contributes largely to the overall economic growth of a country, the environmental impact also increases. Due to the economic growth of the country, the rate of development within the country reaches its peak. The government emphasizes on using the money gathered from tourism for developing their nations without considering the environmental impact. Moreover, the tourists also impose a subsequent threat to the environment of the host country. For example, excess use of transport facilities by the tourists for exploring the cultures and heritage of the host country contributes to the carbon emission. This one aspect is difficult if control, as the tourists visit host countries for relaxing and fun and avails comfortable, r elaxing and luxuries measures for exploring the host country. Therefore, use of more transport facilities results in increased carbon emission for the host country. On the other hand, new business establishments such as factories and industries are facilitated due to increased GDP of the host country due to tourism. Though the new business ventures contribute to the economy and employment of the country, the environmental aspect lacks sufficient consideration. The gases released by the industries and factories are highly toxic and consists of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide that is extremely harmful to the environment. Therefore, it can be said tourism contributes largely to the carbon dioxide emission thereby, posing a severe threat to the environment. Comparing and contrasting the two research papers As mentioned by Gladstone, Curley and Shokri (2012), tourism poses a severe threat to the coastal and marine environment of the host country. However, as argued by Lee and Brahmasrene (2013), tourism results in the economic growth of the country that has a detrimental effect on the environment. Tourism contributes greatly towards increasing the GDP of the country. The government of the countries uses various promotional strategies to attract people from around the world. This is a business strategy undertaken by the countries and their government to increase the economy. More the number of tourists more will the economy of the countries. Therefore, the economy collected by the government from the tourism sector is used by the government for developing and shaping their own country by developing employment, providing educational needs and building business for the country. The GDP gathered from the tourism industry is used by the country to facilitate the growth of buildings, factorie s, and industries. The growth of industries and factories contributes largely to the carbon emission of the country. The researcher to accumulate data from 22 countries used secondary data from 1988 to 2009. Use of secondary data collection technique allowed the researcher to compare and contrast of the rate of carbon dioxide emission over the years. As a result of the comparison, the researcher was able to conclude that the rate of carbon dioxide emission has increased due to the economic growth of the country due to the tourism sector. However, the researcher could have also used primary data collection technique to understand the present view of the tourists and the governmental officials on the impact of tourism sector on increased carbon emission. On the other hand, Gladstone, Curley and Shokri (2012), discusses that tourism adversely affects the marine and coastal environment more compared to any other environmental aspect. The tourists perform a variety of fun loving and relaxing activities in the water without considering the marine ecosystem. Additionally, even the host country does not consider the potential threats that the marine ecosystem encounters due to the leisure activities offered by them to the tourists. The leisure tourist activities pose severe threats for on the marine life that includes both marine flora and fauna. Due to activities such as scuba diving, boating, and river rafting, the bottom of the water bodies is hampered and damaged. The increased amount of excitement and surface tension due to the water activities also disturbs the life of the marine fauna. For example, breakage and damage of the coral reefs are highly noticed. In order to accommodate and provide comfortable facilities for the increased number of tourists, the government permits the organizations for construction in the areas thereby, hampering the coastal environment. The researcher compared the records of the total number of tourists that visit the Gulf or coastal areas with the water activities preferred by the tourists. The comparison thereby, helped the researcher to determine the water sport that causes the major hazards in the coastal regions. Reflection on learning After critically evaluating both the journals, I have learned that tourism has potential threats on the environment. According to me, the government and the organizations of the countries emphasize more on increasing their tourism, as tourism increment will eventually result in economic growth. Moreover, the organizations and government of the country also emphasizes on providing luxurious facilities and comforts to the tourists. This is because the country wants to create an overwhelming image of their tourism thereby, attracting more visitors. As a result, the tourists spots have seen an increased number of hotels and restaurants with time. However, the government and the organizations fail to consider the impact of tourism activities and development on the environment. According to me, the government of the country needs to promote sustainable tourism for the visitors. Sustainability will help in maintaining tourism by facilitating economic growth but avoiding adverse environmenta l impact. Both the journals emphasize on the adverse impact of tourism on the environment both in terms of marine and air. The journals also compare and contrast the previous and recent data in order to evaluate whether adverse impact of tourism on the environment has increased or decreased. Furthermore, the journals also discuss the major cause and effect of environmental hazard due to tourism. However, on the contrary, the journals fail to shed light on the possible recommendations that can be used by the organizations to conduct tourism without hampering the environment. The journals fail to mention the sustainable strategies that could be possibly used by the government and the organizations for conducting tourism. Both the journals helped me in gaining knowledge about the present scenario of the impact of tourism on the environment. According to me, sustainable strategies need to be developed and implemented by the government and the country for conducting the tourism. As discussed in one of the journals tourism transport leads to excessive amount carbon dioxide emission. Therefore, as a sustainable strategy, the country can allow the tourists the use of battery cars or bicycles for exploring the country. This will provide an opportunity for the country to provide healthy and environmentally friendly tourism experience. From the journals, I have learned that tourism is an important aspect of the economy of the country, as it helps in increasing the overall GDP. Therefore, more tourism states more economic growth for the countries. The journals have helped in providing me with adequate knowledge about the adverse impact of tourism on the environment. From the journals, I have also learned that the adverse impact of tourism on the environment has increased from the past years. This is because of the ignorance among the tourists about the impact of tourism on the environment. Therefore, according to me, the government of the host and the home country need to emphasize of spreading awareness about the adverse impact of tourism of the environment along with promoting tourism of the country. Spreading awareness among the tourists will help in prohibiting and mitigating the major activities related to tourism thereby, reducing the adverse environmental impact. Marketing and Advertisement free essay sample

The concerns Introduction-What Is Advertisement, A Marketing Tool? Advertisement is a communication tool, used in marketing to promote the product in public. The main aim is to increase the sales, through perfect promotion (Percy and Elliot,2012). Advertisement is one of the key factors in brand building and sustaining the same. The main aim of advertisement is to remind and persuade the existing and potential customer to make a purchase decision. Advertisement should be deep and fresh in consumers mind for them to easily remember the product and brand. Thus advertisement is an essential tool to marketers to measure the consumer reference. lf advertisement fails, then the money and effort put into it is for waste. The means of advertising is basically Medias like television and internet now a day, with less importance to press and posters. To be precise, advertisement techniques are imaginative and is not a fool proof technique (White,2000). We will write a custom essay sample on Marketing and Advertisement or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page With the above statement it can be clearly understood that there are drawbacks to advertisement. Which can indeed turn out to be the critics as well as concerns which can curtail the impact of advertisement to both advertiser and the targeted consumers? Whether his can be right or can be nullified is the biggest challenge in front of a marketer (Percy and Elliot,2012). So the future lies in the hand of studies which can come up with valued elements and truths to overcome the concerns. Below, are some of the concerns of advertisements and an inside look. The Future of Advertisement with an In-depth Analysis on Concerns Advertisement is everywhere, every day we tent to see a lot of different form and type of advertisement. Due to this many concerns have come up. Lets discuss a few below. ) Advertisement creates irrelevant desires: To begin with, advertisement at times end to create a look out for unattainable goals. The perspective of a common man are challenged. At certain point it creates pointless wants and exaggerates the need for a perfect life (Percy and Elliot,2012). That means transforming a normal product into a desirable product. So advertisement can change the identity of the product. In a nutshell advertisement can give di fferent meanings for a single product(Trampe,Stapel and Siero,2010). For example: High heel shoes was meant to be introduced as a neutral product, however consumers took it as a means to enhance self-image and beauty due to the advertisement(Trampe,Stapel and Siero, 010). Although there are critics which blames other social elements to be a part in such concerns, like movies and magazines portraying such an image, I strongly believe that the concern is true when it comes to majority of brands, especially cloths and accessories. Fashion and trend is often regulated by advertisement. b) Advertisement is deceiving: The second most concern about advertisement is that, it is misleading. Some advertisement tend to hold things which are not there in the actual product. Like the advertisement will value other aspects rather than valuing the actual product(Percy and example: Using images in dvertisement. Lot of cosmetic brands and fashion magazines are used to put up images of women to target the segmented customers. So that they can be fooled by the image which are not related to the actual product. Even then the consumers have a urge to try the product hoping that they turn out to be like the image shown in the advertisement (Perez ,2011). To an extend the concept seems to be a concern, I strongly stand against that because as a human being people should have the common sense and market knowledge to understand that these kind of images cannot mislead them in trying out a product. c) Advertisement disgrace our ntelligence: Thirdly, advertisement is said to insult the brilliance and intellect of a person. Once the concept hits, both the advertiser as well as the consumer can get confused. An advertiser may advertise a product but since different sector of people have different views and thinking capacity, it may be taken as a disgrace by some. This may be a drawback as they may miss a genuine product (Percy and Elliot, 2012). For example: Human models and cartoon characters used in cigarettes, beer and non-alcoholic beverages. Which in turn, a certain majority felt as an and Hunn,2000). By far i agree to this concern, as this appens more than not in many beverages advertisement. Seen people offended by the advertisement and dropping the product. d) Advertisement not adhering to ethical values:Finally, advertisement is valued as unethical. There are set codes and rules for advertisement, then also some advertisement brakes the line to go beyond the ethics as the legal side cannot bind the ethical values (Percy and Elliot,2012). For example: The sexual objectification of women in advertisement. This was a highly discussed concern as surveys show the impact was so deep. Young graduated, women fell in pray for such advertisement techniques (Zimmerman and Dahlberg, 008). believe that this concern is not up to the mark, as long as it does not affect or harm, does it really matter? Conlusion By far advertisement is one of the powerful communication tool in marketing and sales. As the means and reach of advertisement is wide and it covers entire segment of consumers, its relatively the easiest mode of promotion. So it can be said advertisement has a future. Since the future of advertisement is of wide scope, its important to take all the above concerns into count (Cappo,2003). The advantages of advertisement and the modern era of life style helps the marketers in targeting ifferent group of consumers differently. The technology growth is enhancing the concept of advertisement.
